Four Charged In Recent Shoplifting Incidents In Shelburne

Dundalk man charged with impaired driving in shelburne

During the very early hours on Sunday November 26th, as a result of suspicious driving behavior, a Shelburne Police officer stopped and investigated the driver of a pick-up truck, shortly after leaving a local bar. A roadside investigation ensued, which resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The driver was returned to the Shelburne Police Station for breath tests, which indicated he had more than double the legal limit of alcohol in his system. As a result, 21 year old DJ, Austin Moffatt of Dundalk has been charged with Driving While Ability Impaired, Driving with Over 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood, Having Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol, and Fail to Have Insurance Card. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a first appearance court date in early December to answer to the allegations.

Four Charged In Recent Shoplifting Incidents In Shelburne

Earlier this month (November) the Shelburne Giant Tiger contacted Shelburne Police expressing a concern about what appeared to be a high rate of shoplifting incidents. The store specifically brought attention to five recent incidents.  Shelburne Police obtained video surveillance footage of these incidents and started an investigation.Mostly clothing items were stolen, but there were also some food items taken.In one incident, Shelburne Police officers immediately recognized one of the suspects.  For the other incidents, Shelburne Police released still images of the suspects through social media and local news outlets.  As a result all but one of the suspects have been identified, arrested, and charged.  “The combination of high quality video surveillance at the Giant Tiger, and this community’s response to the social media and news reports, resulted in these theft incidents to be solved so quickly.  We thank the community we proudly serve for getting involved, and thank the local news outlets for their contributions and efforts.”A total of 11 charges were laid by Shelburne Police. Arrested and charged are:

66 year old Helen Lowe of Shelburne with Theft, and Possession of Property obtained by Crime, 58 year old Daniel Wladyka of Grand Valley with Theft and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, 63 year old Renate Trocki of Mulmur with Theft and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, 43 year old Robert Matthew Rounding of Shelburne with Theft, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and 3 counts of Breach of Probation.
