Shelburne Police News: Police Chase In The Pineview Gardens Area & Mono Man Charged With Over 80 In Shelburne

Suspect runs from police through backyards in shelburne

Shortly before 2 a.m on Saturday February 17th 2018, a suspect in a criminal investigation ran from Shelburne Police in the Pineview Gardens area.  The suspect fled on foot and was last seen on Jelly Street just north of Pineview Gardens, where he ran through some backyards. Shelburne Police are asking the residents in that area to check their backyards and notify police immediately if they locate something on their property that does not belong there.  The yards that the suspect fled through would include the west side of Jelly Street north of Pineview Gardens, Robert Street between Jelly Street and Greenwood Street, and Monica Court.

If anything is located, Shelburne Police asks that the item or items are not touched, but police are called immediately at 519-925-3312. There is not concern for public safety in regards to the suspect. Further details in regards to the nature of this case will be released as the investigation continues.

Mono man charged with over 80 and other charges in shelburne

Shortly before 2am on Sunday February 18th 2018, Shelburne Police stopped a pick-up truck for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign.  When the officer approached the driver, concern arose that he may have had alcohol in his system.

 

An officer conducted a roadside breath test which the driver failed.  The driver was arrested for Over 80 and returned to the Shelburne Police Station where further breath samples were taken.  The driver failed both additional tests.  Further investigation also revealed that the driver’s licence was already under suspension.

 

As a result, 37 year old Hoj MacDonald of Mono was charged with Disobey Stop Sign, Driving While Under Suspension, and Operation with Over 80mgs of Alcohol.  He has been assigned a first appearance court date in late February to answer to the allegations.
