Shelburne Town Councillor met with Shelburne students on Monday, March 26, 2018 on the steps of Parliament during a school trip Anderson coordinated hoping to benefit and inspire Shelburne youth. Broadening the landscape of the minds of our youth can only help to stimulate a student’s hopes dreams and expectations for a very bright future.
“As promised, please see picture below of myself, Vice-Principal Rowden (Centre Dufferin High School Shelburne) and the students from Glenbrook Elementary, Centennial Hylands and Centre Dufferin High School.
There were 43 students who attended the event and they had the opportunity to meet MPP, Sylvia Jones near the end of the tour and ask questions! While Chambers was in session, the students had the opportunity to hear MPP, Liz Sandals from Guelph who was the former Education Minister and a long serving member of the Upper Grand District School Board ask a question. It appeared that most if not all student were excited to see our provincial politicians in action!
Some of our black students were also excited to see a portrait of Jamaican- Born Alvin Curling a long-serving MPP and former Speaker of the Ontario Legislature!
By all accounts, the tour was a rewarding experience for the staff and students who attended. It was a honor to provide this opportunity for our students in Shelburne and it is my intention to make this an annual event!”commented, Shelburne Town Councillor, Steve Anderson.
