Dufferin Board Of Trade hosted a wonderful event at Shelburne’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch 220 on May 15, 2018 featuring a debate with our Provincial Candidates. Moderated by Joe Andrews, Director of The Orangeville Campas of Humber Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, the event was an enlightened way to meet four of our running candidates. Couldn’t attend? Catch it here! Click for video coverage.
All candidates were impressively candid in their responses to questions posed and the evening was a great opportunity to interact with candidates, clearly understanding where they stand on current issues of political interest. Candidates, Jeff Harris for the Libertarians, Bob Gordanier for the Liberals, Laura Campbell for the Green Party and our area’s current MPP, Sylvia Jones displayed a wonderful air of respect for each other not often found on the American Political stage. Notably, Harris expressed his hopes and promises for few government regulations, and the ever growing need for health care in particular to seek out privatization options while Campbell, strongly expressed the role or government is broken hoping that the Green Party could unite many fronts of government and implement new methods to make Canadian concerns, even in health care, easier and affordable. Gordanier, made his sentiments very clear stating he feels there are three very important issues Canadians face today, food, air and water among them, and also is not a fan of Doug Ford. Current MPP, Sylvia Jones by comparison brought years of experience and understanding of how government works with a long list of personal accomplishments for her jurisdiction. A fascinating event for the audience to benefit from proving this year’s election will be something to follow minute by minute, these four candidates had a lot to say on many well selected questions. This video is worth the watch.
