Shelburne Police Charge Scarborough Man With Impaired & Over 😯
On the evening of Tuesday August 1st, Shelburne Police officers responded to a call from a citizen expressing concern about a driver at a gas station being impaired. Officers located the vehicle in question in a plaza parking lot a few minutes later and conducted an investigation. The driver of the black sedan failed a roadside breath test, and was arrested for Care or Control of Vehicle over 80 mgs. Further breath tests were conducted by a breath technician. The results suggest that the driver had almost double the legal limit of alcohol in his system. The driver, 24 year old Rathushan Gananathan of Scarborough was charged with Care and Control over 80, and Care and Control While Impaired. His driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and his car was impounded for 7 days. He was released on a promise to appear with a first appearance court date in mid-August to answer to the allegations.
