Local dentist charged by the Shelburne Police Service
A local dentist who practices at the Small Town Family Dental clinic on Main Street in Shelburne has been charged with a number of sexual offences. The charges stem from incidents occurring between November 2018 and February 2019 involving a young person who was a co-op student and a part-time employee. It is alleged that the Dentist sexually assaulted this young person as well as, offered money and other rewards in return for performing sexual acts.
A long and in-depth investigation resulted in 65-year-old Muthanna Gewarges of Mono Township being charged with the following:
One count of sexual assault
One count of sexual exploitation
One count of communicating with a person under 18 for sexual purposes.
Gewarges will appear at Ontario Court in Orangeville on June 4, 2019 to answer to the allegations made against him.
The Shelburne Police Service are continuing with this investigation and reaching out to the public as there may be other victims who have not yet come forward.
